Spring 2019: an important time

Spring 2019: an important time

After a few days of rest for Christmas, we restarted our training on December 28th. Our initial focus was on rebuilding strength and stamina with two trainings per day and lots of physical activity. Our Objective is clear – start a rebound in 2019. With our initial...

Season 2018-2019

Season 2018-2019

An intense pre-season with camps in Poland, Belgium and Germany as well as a trip to China to take on PSG in the “Trophée des Champions” came to an end a little over one week ago, when we kicked off our 2018-2019 League 1 campaign with an away game in Nantes....

AS Monaco (07-01-2017)

I join AS Monaco, a heavy weight in Ligue 1 and a regular in UEFA CL competition. The move marks the beginning of a new chapter in my career.

VfL Wolfsburg (01-01-2008 – 06-30-2017)

The longest, most successful stint of my career. In nearly ten years as a „wolve“, we won a German Championship, the German Cup and also left our mark in UEFA CL play.

Clube Desportivo Nacional (30-06-2005 – 12-31-2007)

Time to gain experience as a starter in Madeira. It turned out be the perfect place; in two-plus seasons, I played in over 70 games.

VfB Stuttgart (07-01-2002 – 06-30-2005)

My first gig abroad. The years as a back-up for the VfB were particularly valuable and enlightening.

Grasshopper Club Zürich (07-01-1999 – 06-30-2002)

GC. Record Swiss title holder and also the club that allowed me to get my feet wet in professional football.

FC Baden (07-01-1997 – 06-30-1999)

It featured none of the characteristics of a deadline day deal, but I did change clubs for the first time at age 13 and took my talents to FC Baden.

FC Spreitenbach (01-01-1993 – 06-30-1997)

Here’s where it all began as a 10-year old striker. However, I soon discovered my preference for denying goals as opposed to scoring them.

Swiss National Team (2006 – 2014)

For eight years, I am the last line of defense for the Swiss „Nati“ before retiring from the team following the 2014 World Cup. Highlights include EURO 2008, the World Cup 2010 and the London Olympics in 2012.
